Jining, a prefecture-level city in Shandong Province, is a type II large city. It is one of the central cities of Huaihai Economic Zone approved by Shandong Provincial government, a famous historical and cultural city, and a waterfront eco-tourism city. Jining is located in the southern part of Shandong Province, bordering Linyi in the east, Heze in the west, Zaozhuang and Xuzhou in the south, and Tai 'an in the north. The total area of the city is 11,000 square kilometers. According to the seventh census data, as of midnight on November 1, 2020, the permanent population of Jining was 8,357,897. In 2021, Jining's GDP reached 506.996 billion yuan.

Jining has a long history and culture. It is one of the important birthplaces of Dongyi culture, Chinese civilization, Confucian culture, water margin culture and canal culture. Huangdi, the originator of humanism, Confucius, Mencius, Yan Hui, the sage of Confucianism, and Zuo Qiuming, the historian, were all born here. During the Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties, Jining became an important industrial and commercial city along the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal.

Jining is rich in cultural tourism resources, and the "three holes" and the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal are world cultural heritage. Meng Temple, Meng Fu and other 41 national key cultural relic protection units, as well as Weishan Lake tourism area and other national AAAAA tourist attractions.

Jining is a resource city. Its coal reserves are more than 25 billion tons, with an annual output of 80 million tons of raw coal, accounting for more than half of Shandong Province. Its rare earth reserves rank the second in China. Its installed power capacity is 12 million kilowatts, and its annual generating capacity is more than 55 billion kilowatts. With a surface area of 1,260 square kilometers, Nansi Lake is the largest freshwater lake in northern China. Jining is the national grain, cotton and oil base and characteristic agricultural products base.

Jining is a transportation hub city. Located at the golden section between Beijing and Shanghai, the Beijing-Shanghai high-speed Railway Qufu East Station is 2 hours from Beijing and 3 hours from Shanghai. The South-Shandong high-speed railway has six stops in Jining. The Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal runs through the whole country, the main waterway of 210 kilometers, the shipping capacity of 100 million tons, 1,000 ton fleet can reach the Yangtze River. Jining Airport is one of the top 100 airports in China.
