Sanya City, also known as Lucheng, is a prefectural city in Hainan Province. It is located in the southernmost part of Hainan Island, between 18°09 '34 "~18°37' 27" north latitude and 108°56 '30 "~109°48' 28" east longitude. It is adjacent to Lingshui Li Autonomous County in the east, Ledong Li Autonomous County in the west, Baoting Li and Miao Autonomous County in the north, and the South China Sea in the south. Sanya has a total land area of 1,921 square kilometers and a total sea area of 3,226 square kilometers. It is 91.6 kilometers long from east to west, 51 kilometers wide from north to south, and has jurisdiction over four districts. From late November to early December 2020, the 6th Asian Beach Games was held in Sanya, Hainan Province.

In 2021, Sanya's gross domestic product (GDP) reached 83.537 billion yuan, an increase of 12.1% over 2020 based on comparable prices.
