Angren County is under Shigatse City, located in the north west of Shigatse, the upper reaches of the Brahmaputra River, the middle ridge of the Gangdise Mountains, between 87.14°-87.75° east longitude and 29.17°-31° north latitude. It borders Xetongmen and Lazi counties to the east, Cuoqin and Saga counties to the west, Nyalam and Dingri counties to the south, and Shenzha County to the north. La (Zi) Pu (LAN) Highway (National Highway 219) traverses the southern part of the region. The county has an average altitude of 4,513 meters and an area of 27,460 square kilometers. According to the seventh census, the permanent population of Angren County was 55,108 as of midnight on November 1, 2020.

In 2010, the GNP of Angren County reached 396.12 million yuan, an increase of 13.5% over 2009; Per capita GDP reached 7,682 yuan, an increase of 10 percent over 2009.
