Dawu, belonging to xiaogan, hubei province, is located in the northeast of hubei province of hubei and boundary, the dabie mountains southwest of arteries and veins, north and south 48.8 kilometers long, 42.2 kilometers wide, with a total area of 1986 square kilometers. It has jurisdiction over 14 towns and 3 townships.

Dawu County, formerly known as Lishan County, was established in the 22nd year of the Republic of China (1933) and renamed as Dawu County in 1952. It is the heart of the old revolutionary base area and the Hubei, Henan and Anhui revolutionary base areas. Party and state leaders such as Zhou Enlai, Dong Biwu, Li Xiannnian and Xu Xiangqian once left combat footprints in Dawu, and it is also the hometown of Li Yuanhong, the great President of the Republic of China. In April 2020, the People's Government of Hubei Province approved Dawu County's withdrawal from poverty.
