Duchang County, subordinate to Jiujiang City of Jiangxi Province, is located in the northern part of Jiangxi Province, near Poyang Lake. It is located in the center of the "Golden Triangle" of Nanchang, Jiujiang and Jingdezhen, connected with the five rivers in the south and the Yangtze River in the north. It is within the confluence of Hang-Rui Expressway, Jiu-Jingqu Railway and Du-jiu Expressway. The county covers an area of 2669.5 square kilometers, with jurisdiction over 24 towns and 259 administrative villages. By the end of 2020, the permanent population of Duchang County was 577,600.
Duchang was established in the sixth year of Emperor Gaozu of Han Dynasty (201 BC). It is one of the 18 ancient civilized counties in Jiangxi Province. It was the birthplace of famous historical figures such as Tao Kan, the great Master of the Eastern Jin Dynasty, Liu Qi, the famous anti-Jin general of the Song Dynasty, and Jiang Wanli, the patriotic prime minister of the Southern Song Dynasty.
