Erguna is a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Hulunbuir City in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. It is located at the northwest foot of Greater Khingan Mountains, north end of Hulunbuir Grassland, right bank of Erguna River, Hulunbuir City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. With geographical coordinates of 50°01 '~ 53°26' north and 119°07 '~ 121°49' east, it is the highest latitude city in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and the northernmost border city in China. Erguna covers an area of 28,900 square kilometers. According to the seventh census, the permanent population of Erguna was 68,482 as of midnight on November 1, 2020.

Erguna has been awarded the honorary titles of "The most Folk culture Tourism Destination in China", "National Demonstration County of Leisure Agriculture and Rural Tourism", "the Best Wetland for Tourism with Chinese Characteristics", "the Most Ecological City in China", "National Scenic Spot" and so on.

In 2020, the GDP of Erguna reached 3.94 billion yuan, down 2.7 percent from the previous year.
