Garr County

Garr County is under the jurisdiction of Ngari Prefecture of Tibet Autonomous Region. It is located in the westernmost part of Tibet along the Senge Zangpo and Garr Zangpo river basins, and is one of Tibet's 18 border counties, covering an area of 18,808 square kilometers. The cultivated land covers an area of 0.89 mu. Jurisdiction over 4 townships, 1 town. As of midnight on November 1, 2020, the permanent population of Garr County was 31,052.

Garr County is surrounded by mountains and low in the middle, with an average altitude of about 4350 meters and the highest altitude of 6554 meters. There are 12 large and small lakes in the county, among which the larger ones are Longjiu Lake and Xinga Lake. There are three main highways in the territory, namely Ye Shi Road, A - Japan road and Hei - A road. Highway mileage within the territory of 498 kilometers. In October 2018, the People's Government of Tibet Autonomous Region officially approved the withdrawal of Garr County from poverty.
