Guangchang County, the Southern Song Dynasty in the eighth year of Shaoxing (1138) county, because of the "road to Fujian, Jianchang county" named. It is located in the south of Fuzhou City, the west foot of Wuyi Mountain, with a total area of 1612 square kilometers, and has jurisdiction over 6 towns and 5 townships. According to the seventh census, the permanent population of Guangchang County was 204,375 as of midnight on November 1, 2020.

Guangchang County is an important county of Jiangyou people. It is also the hometown of Chinese white lotus. Guangchang is the largest research and production center, distribution center and price formation center of white lotus in China. It is known as "the hometown of Chinese White Lotus" and "the hometown of Chinese lotus culture". The Guangchang White lotus was first planted during the Yifeng period of the Tang Dynasty with a history of more than 1,300 years. It is a "tribute" of the past dynasties and a protected product of national Geographic indications. Guangchang has the national-level famous historical and cultural town Yiqian Town ancient architecture complex of Ming and Qing dynasties and the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage "Guangchang Meng Opera" which has been circulated for more than 600 years.
