Heshan City, a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Guangdong Province, is managed by Jiangmen City. It is located in the south-central part of Guangdong Province, the southwest of the Pearl River Delta, and the right bank of the lower reaches of the Xijiang River. The land area is 1082.73 square kilometers. The main scenic spots in the territory include Guangdong Dayan Mountain Forest Park, Hegu Tianxin Village, Gulou Water Village, etc. Heshan Black Tea and Heshan Pueraria have been certified as geographical indications of agricultural products. Heshan Municipal People's Government is located in Shaping Street.

In the tenth year of Yongzheng's reign in the Qing Dynasty (1732), the three capitals of Gulao, Xinhua and Zunming were divided from Xinhui and all of the Shuangqiao capitals in Kaiping. In some parts of the ancient Bo capital, Heshan County was newly built, and the city was built in Daguantian as the governing office. The governing office was called Hecheng, which was subordinate to Zhaoqing Prefecture. In the second year of the Republic of China (1913), the county seat moved to Shaping. On June 1, 1983, the city administered the county, and Heshan County was subordinate to Jiangmen City. On November 8, 1993, with the approval of the State Council, it was agreed to abolish Heshan County and establish Heshan City (county-level city). As of October 2022, Heshan City has 1 street and 9 towns under its jurisdiction. Heshan Municipal People's Government is located in Shaping Street. By the end of 2021, the total registered residence population of Heshan City will be 391600.

In 2021, Heshan City will achieve a GDP of 44.069 billion yuan, up 9.7% year on year. The added value of industries above designated size was 18 billion yuan, up 21.2% year on year. The total output value of agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery was 6.075 billion yuan, up 8.2% year on year. Local general public budget revenue was 3.651 billion yuan, up 8.0% year on year. Investment in fixed assets increased by 6.2%. The total import and export value of foreign trade was 26.81 billion yuan, up 43.5% year on year. The total retail sales of consumer goods reached 15.579 billion yuan, up 9.8% year on year.
