Huguan County, under the jurisdiction of Changzhi City of Shanxi Province, is located in the southeast of Shanxi Province. It is connected with Linhui City of Henan Province in the east, Changzhi City in the west, Pingshun County in the north and Lingchuan County in the south, with a total area of 1013 square kilometers. It has jurisdiction over 7 towns and 3 townships.

Huguan County is the heavy chemical industry base of economic development in the central part of the country, and also the key point of economic and cultural exchange between Shanxi and Henan. The Grand Canyon of Taihang Mountain Natural scenery and tourism area is a combination of magnificent, dangerous and secluded, integrating the northern and southern scenery. It is one of the top ten scenic spots in Shanxi Province. It has been awarded the "National Forest Park", "National Geoparks", "Top Ten Most Beautiful Canyons in China", "Top 200 County Tourism Brand Scenic Spots in China" and "National AAAA Scenic Spot" successively. On January 8, 2020, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism issued the Announcement on Establishing 22 Tourist Attractions as National 5A Tourist Attractions. Eight Spring Gorge Scenic Spot in Huguan Taihang Mountain Grand Canyon was listed as a national 5A scenic spot, becoming the first Changzhi City and the eighth national 5A scenic spot in Shanxi Province.
