Jiaoling County, formerly known as Zhenping County, is a county under the jurisdiction of Meizhou City, and the Central Soviet District County. It is located in the northeast of Guangdong Province, at the upstream of the Hanjiang River, at the junction of Fujian, Guangdong and Jiangxi. It is connected with Pingyuan County in the west, Meixian District in Meizhou City in the southeast, Wuping County and Shanghang County in Fujian Province in the north, and 205 National Highway and Tianshan Expressway run through the north and south. The total area of the county is 961.64 square kilometers. It has jurisdiction over Jiaocheng, Changtan, Sanzhen, Xinpu, Wenfu, Guangfu, Lanfang There are eight towns in the south, surrounded by mountains and inclining from north to south, including 1.134 million mu of mountains, 115000 mu of arable land, 187000 mu of rivers, lakes and other areas. They are "national greening model counties", as well as the world's longevity township, the former Central Soviet District county, China's ecological civilization county, the national rural comprehensive reform demonstration county, Guangdong Province's sustainable development experimental area, Guangdong Province's advanced culture county, sports advanced county, and national civilization county. According to the data of the seventh population census, as of 0:00 on November 1, 2020, there are 184355 permanent residents in Jiaoling County.

Jiaoling is a place where Hakka people live together. It is one of the key Taiwan townships in Guangdong. There are about 600000 Taiwanese who are ancestral to Jiaoling. It is a national key Taiwan township and a cross-strait exchange base in Guangdong Province. The first scholar in Meizhou in the Song Dynasty, Lan Kui, the patriot of the late Qing Dynasty, poet and educator Qiu Fengjia, as well as Zhong Menghong, Luo Fuxing, Lin Xiuming, Xie Jinyuan, Lin Bosen, Qiu Chengtong, Qiu Yingnan, Deng Jiadong and other outstanding figures have emerged. In 2014, Jiaoling County, Guangdong Province, won the title of "World Longevity Township".

In 2021, the gross regional product of Jiaoling County was 10.64 billion yuan, up 5% year on year, and the per capita gross regional product of the whole county was 57890 yuan.

In December 2019, it became a pilot unit for the construction of the national rural governance system.
