Jingzhou Miao and Dong Autonomous County, under the jurisdiction of Huaihua City, Hunan Province. Located in the southwest of Hunan Province, south of Huaihua City, Hunan, Guizhou, Guangxi border area. It is located in the eastern slope edge of Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, the southwest end of Xuefeng Mountains, and the Qujiang River Basin upstream of Yuanshui River. Jingzhou has a long history. In the Xia and Shang Dynasties, Jingzhou was the main area to the southwest of Jingzhou. In the second year of Chongning of Song Dynasty (1103 AD), Jingzhou was established. In the Ming Dynasty, it became a major commercial town on the border of Hunan, Guizhou and Guangxi provinces.

Jingzhou Miao and Dong Autonomous County is "the hometown of Chinese bayberry" and "the hometown of Poria", "National Green Xiaokang County" and "National Advanced collective in greening". The forest coverage rate of the county reaches 74.1%, and the stock volume of live wood is 9.35 million cubic meters. It is an important wood producing area in China, a forest base for fast growth and high yield, and one of the top ten forestry counties in Hunan Province. In 2020, the annual GDP of Jingzhou Miao and Dong Autonomous County reached 8.765 billion yuan, an increase of 4.2% over the previous year.

On September 25, 2018, it was awarded the honorary title of "2018 E-commerce into Rural Comprehensive Demonstration County" by the Ministry of Commerce. On January 9, 2019, Deng (North of Deng City) was selected into the list of "Town of Folk Culture and Art in China" (2018-2020) with Miao Nationality Gedeng (North of Deng City).

On April 16, 2019, the People's Government of Hunan Province confirmed that the Miao and Dong Autonomous County of Jingzhou met the conditions for being a poverty-stricken county and agreed to be lifted out of poverty. The seventh batch of national demonstration zones for ethnic unity and progress (units). In November 2020, it was awarded as the tenth Model county (city) of Hunan Province.
