Lingyuan, a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Liaoning Province, is managed by Chaoyang City. Located in the west of Liaoning, at the intersection of Liaoning, Hebei and Inner Mongolia, it is an important traffic contact city connecting Beijing and Shenyang metropolitan groups, Inner Mongolia hinterland and coastal ports. It is 428 kilometers from Shenyang, 362 kilometers from Beijing, 219 kilometers from Qinhuangdao, with a total area of 3278 square kilometers. Lingyuan is named after the birthplace of Daling River. It is a part of hilly and mountainous areas in western Liaoning, with crisscross ravines and overlapping mountains. The terrain is high in the northwest and low in the southeast. The Niuheliang Hongshan Cultural Site found in its territory was included in the preliminary list of China's application for world cultural heritage in 2007. On October 22, 2018, it was selected into the list of national pilot areas for the integration and development of rural primary, secondary and tertiary industries in 2018. In 2019, it was listed as the second batch of national agricultural product quality safety counties. In November 2019, it was selected into the second batch of counties (districts) meeting the standard of water-saving society construction. On August 31, 2020, it was included in the list of pilot counties for the "Internet plus" agricultural products project.
In 2020, Lingyuan's annual GDP will reach 20.61 billion yuan, an increase of 3.3% over the previous year at comparable prices.
