Minfeng County, belonging to Hotan Region of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, is located at the northern foot of Kunlun Mountains, between 82 ° 22 '- 85 ° 55' E and 35 ° 20 '- 39 ° 29' N. Located in the southern edge of Taklimakan Desert. It is adjacent to Qiemo County in the east, Yutian County in the west, Gaize County in Tibet in the south and Shaya County in Aksu region in the north. Nya Town is 1230 kilometers away from Urumqi. Minfeng County has jurisdiction over 6 townships, 1 town, 34 administrative villages and 5 communities. The administrative area is 56703 square kilometers. By the end of 2019, Minfeng County had 38240 registered residence.

Minfeng County is located at the northern foot of the Kunlun Mountains, with Kashtash Mountain in the south, and at the southern edge of the Tarim Basin. The terrain is high in the south and low in the north. The landform is composed of Kunlun Mountain in the south, alluvial fan plain in the north and desert. Minfeng County has a typical temperate desert climate. Because the county is located in the northwest of the Tarim Basin and is protected by the Pamir Plateau and Tianshan Mountains, the annual average temperature changes relatively stable, with annual precipitation of 30.5 mm, annual evaporation of 2756 mm, frost-free period of 194 days, and annual sunshine of 2842.2 hours.
