Pizhou is short for "Pi". Jiangsu Province administers county-level cities and is managed by Xuzhou City. Known as Piguo, Xiapi and Liangcheng in ancient times, it is located at the junction of Jiangsu and Shandong, bordering Xinyi City in the east, Tongshan District and Jiawang District of Xuzhou City in the west, Suining County and Suyu District of Suqian City in the south, and Taierzhuang District, Lanling County and Tancheng County of Zaozhuang City in Shandong Province in the north. In 2019, it ranked 37th in the national top 100 counties and cities with comprehensive strength, 40th in the economic competitiveness, 18th in the national top 100 counties and cities with investment potential, 33rd in the national top 100 counties and cities with green development, 36th in the national top 100 counties and cities with scientific and technological innovation, and 51st in the national top 100 counties and cities with new urbanization quality.
