Qianxi City, a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Bijie City in Guizhou Province, is located in the east of Wumeng Plateau, the middle reaches of Wujiang River and the north bank of Yechi River, between 105°47 '~106°26' east longitude and 26°45 '~ 27°21' north latitude. It is 68 kilometers away from the provincial capital Guiyang and 77 kilometers away from Qixingguan District, the seat of Bijie Municipal Government. The jurisdiction covers a total area of 2380.5 square kilometers. As of July 2022, Qianxi Municipality has jurisdiction over 15 towns, 10 ethnic townships and 5 sub-district offices. The municipal People's Government is located at No. 168 Yingbin Road, Liancheng Street. By the end of 2021, the permanent population of Qianxi is 696,400, including 356,900 males and 339,500 females.

Qianxi City is named for its location in the west of Guizhou (abbreviated as Qian). Qianxi City is one of the birthplaces of ancient humans. Experts call it "Guanyin Cave culture". Shang and Zhou dynasties for the state of Lu Yi. In the three years of the Republic of China (1914), Guizhou provincial capital was changed into a county in Qianxi Prefecture. In March 2021, with the approval of the Ministry of Civil Affairs, Qianxi County was abolished and Qianxi City was established at the county level. Qianxi City has Wujiangyuan Hundred mile Gallery, Shuixi Ancient City, Guanyin Cave site, Zhiga Alu Lake and other scenic spots. In 2021, the GDP of Qianxi was 24.224 billion yuan, an increase of 7.3% over the previous year. The value added of the primary industry was 4.929 billion yuan, up by 7.7%; The added value of the secondary industry was 7.484 billion yuan, up by 8.5%; The value added of the tertiary industry was 11.811 billion yuan, up by 6.4%. The value added of the primary industry accounted for 20.3% of the GDP, the value added of the secondary industry accounted for 30.9% of the GDP and the value added of the tertiary industry accounted for 48.8% of the GDP.
