Qishan County is located in the west of Guanzhong Plain and the northeast of Baoji City. It is adjacent to Linyou County in the north, Taibai County in the south, Fufeng County and Mei County in the east, and Fengxiang District and Chencang District in the west. Covering an area of 856 square kilometers, it has jurisdiction over 9 towns, 106 administrative villages, 15 communities and 1 provincial economic and technological Development Zone (Caijiapo Economic Development Zone) with a population of 460,000.

Qishan, known as "Xiqi" in ancient times, is one of the birthplace of the Chinese nation. It is the place where Emperor Yan lived and Zhoushi originated. It is the birthplace of Qibo, the originator of traditional Chinese medicine. It has unearthed national treasures such as Maogong Triding and Dayu Triding and tens of thousands of pieces of oracle bone inscriptions in the Western Zhou Dynasty. It has the national AAAA scenic spot of Zhougong Temple, AAA scenic spot of Zhuge Liang Temple, Zhouyuan Site, Zhou Cultural scenic spot, Zhaoting clean Government Cultural Education Base and other scenic spots, and 11 items of the provincial intangible cultural Heritage list, such as the Zhou Gong Ceremony, Qishan paper-cutting and bronze replicas. It is the hometown of bronze ware, oracle bone inscriptions, drum turning, folk art, the hometown of Chinese etiquette culture, the thousand-year-old county of China, the most beautiful county in China, suitable for living, working and visiting, the 20th Asian Tourism Golden Tourism Award, the most distinctive and charming tourist destination.

By the end of 2021, Qishan had a permanent population of 358,000. In 2021, Qishan County achieved a gross regional product of 17.471 billion yuan, in which the added value of the primary industry was 2.889 billion yuan, the added value of the secondary industry was 8.054 billion yuan and the added value of the tertiary industry was 6.528 billion yuan. The ratio of the three industries was 16.5:46.1:37.4.
