Shufu County is subordinate to Kashgar region of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Located in the southwest of Xinjiang Autonomous Region, at the eastern foot of the Pamir Plateau, on the Kashgar Oasis at the western edge of the Tarim Basin, there are 13 ethnic groups, including Uighur, Han, Kirgiz, Mongolia, Hui, Kazak, Uzbek and Tajik. The administrative area is 2708 square kilometers. By the end of 2019, the registered residence population of Shufu County was 281469.

Shufu County was originally affiliated to Shule Zhili Prefecture. The Uyghur language is called "Kashgar Kuanaxie Haier", which means the old city of Kashgar. Also known as Tokuzak, it belongs to Kashgar at the beginning of the Qing Dynasty. The "Western Region Atlas" is called Tokul Sark, and the "Western Region Tongwen Zhi" is interpreted as: "Tokuk is full; Kul Sark is big belly. The land is abundant, and Yujia people can eat well, so it is named." That is, the place that can eat well, which means "the land is abundant and people are rich". Tozak now explains it as "nine white lands", which may be caused by the conversion of voice.

Shufu is adjacent to Jiashi County in the east, Wuqia County in the west with gravel gobi, Shule County and Aktau County in the south, and Karatagh Mountain, Kumatag Mountain and Atushi City in the north. The county town of Tokezak is 15 kilometers away from Kashgar City and 1482 kilometers away from Urumqi City.

There are 27 categories and 50 varieties of ethnic musical instruments produced by Shufu, covering almost all kinds of traditional Uyghur musical instruments. The handicrafts of ethnic musical instruments are listed in the national intangible cultural heritage project. As a designated open county, Shufu County enjoys independent import and export trade rights. On January 24, 2020, the People's Government of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region agreed to withdraw Shufu County from the poverty-stricken county sequence.

In 2019, the gross domestic product of Shufu County was 4704.25 million yuan, the added value of the primary industry was 172.1 million yuan, the added value of the secondary industry was 674.64 million yuan, the general public budget revenue was 230.58 million yuan, and the general public budget expenditure was 4496.58 million yuan.
