Suijiang County

Suijiang County is under the jurisdiction of Zhaotong City, Yunnan Province. It is located at the northeast edge of Yunnan on the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, bordering Shuifu City in the east, Yanjin County in the south, Yongshan County in the west, and Leibo County and Pingshan County in Sichuan Province across the Jinsha River in the northwest and north, with a total area of 761 square kilometers. In the seventh year of the reign of Emperor Yongzheng of the Qing Dynasty, a hundred and forty miles from the south bank of the Jinsha River in Pingshan County were transferred to Zhaotong Prefecture in Yunnan Province, and Suiyu was transferred to Zhaotong Prefecture. In the ninth year of Yongzheng's reign (1731), an adjutant village was set up for the defense, which was under the jurisdiction of Yongshan County. In the first year of Xuantong (1909), Jingjiang County was established. The next year, it was changed to Suijiang County. In 2001, Zhaotong was set up as a city, and Suijiang County belonged to Zhaotong City. On April 30, 2019, the People's Government of Yunnan Province approved Suijiang County to withdraw from the poverty county sequence. It is a national health county, a typical case of "road leader system" for rural roads, and a demonstration area for ecological civilization construction.
