Wangcang County is subordinate to Guangyuan City, Sichuan Province, located in the northern edge of Sichuan Basin, at the southern foot of Micang Mountain, adjacent to Nanjiang County, Bazhong City in the east, Chaotian District, Lizhou District and Zhaohua District in the west, adjacent to Cangxi County in the south, and bordering Nanzheng County and Ningqiang County in Shaanxi Province in the north. The county covers an area of 2987 square kilometers, with jurisdiction over 21 towns and 2 townships. According to the seventh census, Wangcang County had a permanent population of 330,108 as of midnight on November 1, 2020.
