Wenchuan County, affiliated to the Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture of Sichuan Province, is located in the northwest of Sichuan Province, the northwest plateau of Sichuan and the southeast of the Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture. By the end of 2021, Wenchuan County has jurisdiction over 9 towns, covering an area of 4084 square kilometers and a permanent population of 82,000.

Wenchuan County got its name from the Minjiang River (called Wenshui in ancient times). It has a history of more than two thousand years since Emperor Wu of Han Dynasty established Wenshan County. Wenchuan County is a national cultural ecological protection area, known as the "hometown of Yu, panda home, health of Wenchuan" reputation, is one of the four Qiang inhabited counties, is Tibetan, Qiang, Hui, Han and other ethnic groups of the convergence of the zone, Du-Wen highway and national road 213, 317 line through the border. Wenchuan has unique tourism resources, such as Wenchuan Special Tourism Zone, national AAAAA level scenic spot, Dayu Cultural Tourism Zone and other scenic spots.

In 2021, the GDP of Wenchuan County reached 8195.32 million yuan, the local general public budget revenue reached 449.37 million yuan, and the per capita disposable income of urban and rural residents reached 39,377 yuan and 18,317 yuan, respectively.
