Wulan County belongs to Haixi Mongolian and Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Qinghai Province. It is located in the central part of Qinghai Province, Haixi Mongolian and Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture and the eastern part of Qaidam Basin. It is adjacent to Gonghe County of Hainan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in the east, connected to Dulan County in the south, Delingha City in the west, and Tianjun County in the north, with a total area of 12858.16 square kilometers. In 2019, the registered population of Ulan County was 34,900, down 0.96 percent. It is a region inhabited by Han, Mongolian, Tibetan, Hui, Salah and other ethnic groups. In 1959, Wulan County was established. In 1988, Delingha City was set up in Ulan County. Wulan County belongs to Haixi Mongolian and Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture.
