Yingjisha, a Uighur language, means "new town". The Qing Dynasty's "Western Regions Atlas" is called Yinggasar. It has been an important town between Yerqiang and Kashgar since ancient times. The Qing Dynasty set up a military station here. In the 24th year of Qianlong's reign (1759), after the overthrow of the Great, Small and Zhuomu Rebellion, it was named Yingjishar.

Yingjisha County, under the jurisdiction of Kashgar, Xinjiang, is located in the southwest of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, the northern foot of the Kunlun Mountains, and the western edge of the Tarim Basin; It borders Shache County in the east, Aktau County in the southwest and northwest, and Shule and Yuepu Lake in the northeast; The administrative area is 3425 square kilometers. It is the famous "township of Chinese knives", "township of Semaiti apricot in China" and "township of Dawaz in China". It is the post station of the ancient land Silk Road and one of the eight major towns in southern Xinjiang.

Yingjisha County governs 2 towns and 12 townships, with a cultivated area of 380300 mu, including Uygur, Han, Hui, Uzbek, Kirgiz, Kazak, etc. At the end of 2019, the registered residence population of Yingjisha County was 307083.

In 2019, Yingjisha County's GDP was 4567.6 million yuan, the added value of the primary industry was 1315.69 million yuan, the added value of the secondary industry was 887.27 million yuan, the general public budget revenue was 186.63 million yuan, and the general public budget expenditure was 4979.43 million yuan.

On September 25, 2018, it was awarded the honorary title of "2018 Comprehensive Demonstration County of E-commerce in Rural Areas" by the Ministry of Commerce.
