Yuanping City, a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Shanxi Province, is administered by Xinzhou City. It is located in the north central part of Shanxi Province, bordering Wutai County in the east, Ningwu County in the west, Xinfu District and Dingxiang County in the south, and Dai County and Shuozhou City and Shuocheng District in the north. With a total area of 2560 square kilometers, it has jurisdiction over 4 subdistricts, 7 towns, 7 townships and 1 provincial economic and technological development Zone.
