Yugan County is subordinate to Shangrao City of Jiangxi Province. Yugan County is located in the northeast of Jiangxi Province, on the southeast bank of Poyang Lake and the lower reaches of Xinjiang River. It borders Wannian County in the east, Yujiang District of Yingtan City and Dongxiang District of Fuzhou City in the south, Jinxian County, Xinjian District and Nanchang County in the west, and Poyang County across the lake from Duchang County in the north. The total area of the county is 2336 square kilometers. By the end of 2018, Yugan County had jurisdiction over 9 towns, 11 townships and 7 farms. Yugan County was named after its border with Yu Shui. It was Yuhan County in the early Western Han Dynasty and Yugan County in the early years of the Southern Song Dynasty. After the liberation of Yugan on May 7, 1949, it successively belonged to Poyang Poyang District, Leping District, Fuliang District, Shangrao District and Shangrao District. In October 2000, Shangrao District was set up as a city and Yugan County was under the jurisdiction of Shangrao City. Yugan County is the largest river for the Xin River, through the entire territory, 146.5 kilometers long; The largest lake is Kangshan Lake, the second largest lake in Jiangxi Province, with an area of 7.5 square kilometers. The highest peak is Limeiling, 290 meters above sea level. The lowest point is the northern Emperor's Cap, about 13 meters above sea level.
