Zhaoyuan County is a county of Daqing, Heilongjiang Province formerly known as Houguo Erroth, located in the southwest of Heilongjiang Province, the left bank of Songnen River, Changchun, Harbin, Daqing "Golden Triangle" center, under the jurisdiction of Daqing. It is the land of "the achievements of King Zhaoji" of Emperor Taizu. It has a civilization of more than 6000 years and covers an area of 4119.5 square kilometers. Zhaoyuan County is a multi-ethnic county, 21 ethnic groups, jurisdiction over 16 towns, 6 farming, forestry, animal husbandry and fishing grounds. According to the seventh census, Zhaoyuan County had a permanent population of 330,340 as of midnight on November 1, 2020.

In 2019, it was listed as the second batch of national agricultural product quality safety county.
In 2020, Zhaoyuan County's economic growth rate turned from negative to positive, with its GDP reaching 11.33 billion yuan, a year-on-year growth of 1.2%, and the primary, secondary and tertiary industries reaching 5.37 billion yuan, 1.72 billion yuan and 4.24 billion yuan respectively.
