Zhecheng County, subordinate to Shangqiu City, Henan Province, is located in the east of Henan Province and the southwest of Shangqiu City. It is connected with Suiyang District in the northeast, Ningling County and Sui County in the north, Luyi County in the south, and Taikang County in the west. The total administrative area is 1048 square kilometers. By 2021, the permanent population of Zhecheng County is 1.1 million.
Six thousand years ago, the Yan Emperor Zhu Xiang's family founded the capital and buried it in Zhecheng, where the Zhu surname originated. In the Qin Dynasty, a city was built and a county was set up. It was named "Zhe County" because of the circulation of Zhe Valley and the clumps of Zhe trees on both sides of the city. Since ancient times, Zhe silk is abundant, which belongs to Chen County and Dang County respectively. The county seat is located in Chen County. In June of the third year of the Republic of China (1914), Zhecheng belonged to Kaifeng Road, Henan Province. After liberation in 1949, Zhecheng belonged to Shangqiu District of Henan Province. In 1997, a prefecture level Shangqiu City was established, and Zhecheng belongs to Shangqiu City. As of October 2021, Zhecheng County has jurisdiction over 4 streets, 9 towns and 9 townships, and the county government is located at No. 77, Future Avenue, Zhecheng County.
From January to September 2021, the GDP of Zhecheng County will be 20.866 billion yuan, with a year-on-year growth of 2.9% at comparable prices, 0.9 percentage points higher than that of the whole city, ranking third in the city.
In April 2022, Zhecheng County will be determined as the project county of "National Training Plan" in 2022.
