Lingao County is a county directly under the jurisdiction of Hainan Province and an important part of Beibu Gulf City group. It is located in the northwest of Hainan Island, adjacent to Chengmai County in the east, Danzhou City in the southwest, Beibu Gulf in the northwest, Qiongzhou Strait in the north, and Leizhou Peninsula across the sea. The county government is based in Lincheng, 83 km from the provincial capital of Haikou City.
