Jiayuguan, a prefecture-level city in Gansu Province, is an important node city in Gansu section of the Silk Road Economic Belt approved by the People's Government of Gansu Province, a provincial sub-central city, and an important national metallurgical and advanced manufacturing base. As of 2018, it has jurisdiction over 3 subdistricts and 3 towns, with a total area of 1224 square kilometers. According to the seventh census data, as of midnight on November 1, 2020, Jiayuguan's permanent population was 312,663. In 2020, Jiayuguan achieved a gross regional product of 28.16 billion yuan.
Jiayuguan is located in northwest China, northwest Gansu, central part of Hexi Corridor, east to Jiuquan Suzhou District, southeast to Lanzhou 650 kilometers, northwest to Jiuquan Yumen City, northwest to Hami Xinjiang 650 kilometers, south to the Qilian Mountains and Zhangye Sunan Yugur Autonomous County border; North pillow Montenegro and Jinta County Jiuquan connected, central Jiuquan Oasis west edge.
Jiayuguan is the key point of the ancient Silk Road, the starting point of the western end of the Great Wall in the Ming Dynasty, and the newly emerging industrial and tourism modern regional center city, known as the "key key of the border", because of the construction of Jiuquan Iron and Steel Company, a key project of the national "First Five Year Plan". It is also the location of Jiuquan Iron and Steel Group, the largest iron and steel conglomerate in Northwest China, known as the "Gobi Steel City".
In November 2016, Jiayuguan City was rated as the second batch of national all-region tourism demonstration zone by the National Tourism Administration; In November 2017, it was awarded the National Civilized City; In November 2018, it was selected into the top 100 of China's Comprehensive Well-off Urban Index; In June 2020, it was selected into the list of the first batch of national law-based government construction demonstration areas and projects.
