Jingdezhen, also known as "Porcelain Capital", is a prefecture-level city in the northeast of Jiangxi Province, bordered by Dongzhi County of Anhui Province in the northwest, Wannian County in the south, Poyang County in the west, Qimen County of Anhui Province in the northeast, and Wuyuan County in the southeast. It is located between east longitude 116°57 '-- 117°42' and north latitude 28°44 '-- 29°56', with a total area of 5256 square kilometers. It has jurisdiction over 2 municipal districts, 1 county-level city and 1 county.
Jingdezhen was established in the Eastern Jin Dynasty, and was called "Changnan" in the beginning. In the Han Dynasty, it was renamed "Xinping". It was located in Jiangzhou. In the first year of Tang Tianbao (742), it was renamed "Fuliang". In the first year of Jingde in the Northern Song Dynasty, Zhao Heng named it "Jingdezhen", which was located in Fuliang County. After liberation, it was separated from Fuliang County to Jingdezhen City. In 1960, Fuliang County merged into Jingdezhen City. Jingdezhen is the world porcelain capital, the cradle of China's helicopter industry, one of the first national historical and cultural cities, the world handicraft and folk art capital, the most charming cultural tourism city in China and the national demonstration city of ecological civilization construction.
By the end of 2021, Jingdezhen has a permanent resident population of 1,620,565. In 2021, Jingdezhen achieved a gross regional product of 110.231 billion yuan, in which the added value of the primary industry was 7.097 billion yuan, the secondary industry 48.745 billion yuan and the tertiary industry 54.389 billion yuan. The ratio of three industrial structures was 6.5:44.2:49.3, and the per capita gross regional product was 68,049 yuan.
