Nanchang, short for "Hong" or "Chang", known as Yuzhang and Hongdu in ancient times, is a prefecture-level city, provincial capital and type-I large city under the jurisdiction of Jiangxi Province. It has been approved by The State Council as an important central city in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River and the central city of Poyang Lake Ecological Economic Zone in China.
