Tumshuk, a county-level city directly under the Central Government of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, and the third division of Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps implement the division and city integration management system, which is managed by Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps. It was established with the approval of the State Council in 2002. With an administrative area of 3664 square kilometers, it is located in the center of Kashgar, Aksu, Kezhou and Hotan, bordering five countries in Central Asia. There are five available national Class I opening ports. It is the frontier of China's opening up to countries in Central Asia, West Asia and South Asia. It is also an important city along the new Asia-Europe land bridge of the international corridor "China, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan Railway", which is being built in the west of Central Kashgar. In 2019, the registered residence population of Tumushuke City was 245789.

Tumushuk has a pleasant climate and is a production base of cotton, grain and fruit. The city's desert, mountain range and original populus euphratica forest concentrate the natural scenery of the western region and are also one of the birthplaces of the Daolang culture. The annual western region food tourism culture festival has become an important brand with unique regional, ethnic and cultural characteristics in Tumushuk.

In 2019, the gross regional product of Tumushuk was 17488.5 million yuan, the added value of the primary industry was 5198.44 million yuan, the added value of the secondary industry was 486.412 million yuan, the general public budget revenue was 493.21 million yuan, and the general public budget expenditure was 10231.5 million yuan.
