Yingtan, a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Jiangxi Province, is named after "the ripples swirl in it and the eagle dances on it". It is an important member of the urban agglomeration in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River. It is located in the transition zone from Wuyi Mountains to Poyang Lake plain, and the jurisdiction is subtropical humid monsoon mild climate. By 2019, it had jurisdiction over 2 districts and 1 city, covering an area of 3,556.7 square kilometers. According to the seventh census data, as of midnight on November 1, 2020, Yingtan's permanent population was 1,154,223. In 2021, Yingtan achieved a gross regional product of 114.392 billion yuan.

Longhu Mountain is the ancient and modern famous mountain described in the beginning of the classical novel Water Margin. It enjoys a high reputation at home and abroad for its beautiful Danxia, the most sacred Taoism, the last song of ancient Yue, and the excellent Yin and Yang. It is a world Natural Heritage site, a world geopark, and a national 5A tourist attraction.
