Zaozhuang, a prefectual-level city under the jurisdiction of Shandong Province, is located in the south of Shandong Province, bordering Pingyi County, Fei County and Lanling County of Linyi City on the east, Tongshan District, Jiawang District and Pizhou City of Xuzhou City of Jiangsu Province on the south, Weishan County of Jining City on the west, bordering Weishan Lake, and Zoucheng City of Jining City on the north. It is between 116°48 '-- 117°49' east longitude and 34°27 '-- 35°19' north latitude. It is 56 kilometers wide from east to west and 96 kilometers long from north to south, with a total area of 4564 square kilometers, accounting for 2.97% of the total area of Shandong Province.

Zaozhuang is the first "cross-Straits exchange base" and "National Fitness Yangko City" in China. It is famous at home and abroad for the battle between railway guerrillas and Tai 'erzhuang.
