Zhengzhou, referred to as "Zheng" for short, is known as "the center of heaven and earth" in history, as a commercial capital in ancient times, and now as a green city. The prefecture level cities, provincial capitals, megacities under the jurisdiction of Henan Province, and the 13th Five Year Plan for Promoting the Rise of Central China clearly support the construction of national central cities.

Zhengzhou is located in the north central part of Henan Province, at the boundary between the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River, with a total area of 7567 square kilometers. The general terrain trend of Zhengzhou is high in the southwest and low in the northeast, belonging to the temperate continental monsoon climate. In October of the 37th year of the Republic of China (1948), after the liberation of Zhengzhou by the Central Plains Field Army, Zhengzhou was established in the urban area of Zheng County, directly under the leadership of Henan Province. On October 30, 1954, the government of Henan Province moved from Kaifeng to Zhengzhou, and Zhengzhou became the capital of Henan Province. Zhengzhou is a transportation hub with highway, railway, aviation and information in China, and has formed a transportation network consisting of railway, highway and aviation.
