Zhuhai, a prefecture-level city and provincial-level sub-central city of Guangdong Province, is a type II large city, located in the south of Guangdong Province, on the west bank of the Pearl River estuary, bordering the South China Sea, with a land area of 1725 square kilometers, and a sea area of 9348 square kilometers within the baseline of the territorial sea. By the end of 2021, the permanent resident population of Zhuhai was 2.4667 million. By 2022, Zhuhai has jurisdiction over Xiangzhou District, Doumen District and Jinwan District.

Zhuhai has historically belonged to Guangfu region, and its urban characteristics are highly compatible with Guangfu culture. Zhuhai has been one of the important Lingnan cultural towns since ancient times, and the regional culture of Zhuhai is an important part of Xiangshan culture. Zhuhai was founded in 1979 and set up special economic zones in 1980. It is one of the earliest special economic zones in China. Zhuhai is the only city in mainland China that is connected to Hong Kong and Macao simultaneously by land. Zhuhai is an important port city in China, with five land transport ports including Gongbei, Hengqin, Qingmao, Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, Zhuhai Highway, Zhuhai-Macao Cross-border Industrial Zone, and five water transport ports including Jiuzhou Port, Wanchai Port ferry passenger transport, Zhuhai Port, Doumen Port, and Wanshan Port. There are a total of 10 national first-class ports, and it is the second largest port city in China after Shenzhen.

In 2021, Zhuhai's GDP will reach 388.175 billion yuan, up 6.9% year on year. Among them, the added value of the primary industry was 5.502 billion yuan, an increase of 7.1%, and its contribution rate to the growth of regional GDP was 1.49%; The added value of the secondary industry was 162.747 billion yuan, an increase of 6.5%, and its contribution rate to the growth of regional GDP was 38.86%; The added value of the tertiary industry was 219.927 billion yuan, up 7.2%, contributing 59.65% to the growth of regional GDP.
