Xinmi City, a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Henan Province and managed by Zhengzhou City, is located in the hinterland of the Central Plains, at the foot of Fuxi Mountain at the east foot of Song Mountain, and by the Qinwei River. It is the source of Chinese civilization and a city with mountains and rivers. As of 2017, Xinmi has jurisdiction over 17 streets and towns. It covers a total area of 1001 square kilometers. Xinmi, which was established in 206 BC, was removed from the county to become a city in 1994, and is 30 kilometers away from the central urban area of Zhengzhou. The traffic location of Xinmi is superior. It is located in the metropolitan area of Zhengzhou, the center of Zhengzhou's national central city, and the economic circle of Zhengzhou Airport Area. The backbone road network of Zhengshao, Zhengyao, Shangdeng Expressway, Zhengdeng Expressway, and the south extension of University Road are smooth and convenient. The large traffic pattern of "eight vertical and eight horizontal" national and provincial trunk lines, and "four vertical and seven horizontal" county roads has gradually taken shape.
In December 2019, it became a pilot unit for the construction of the national rural governance system. On December 28, 2019, it was selected as one of the "2019 Top 100 Counties (Cities) in the National Manufacturing Industry". On November 27, 2020, Xinmi was rated as a provincial forest city.
In 2019, Xinmi's annual GDP reached 68309.97 million yuan, an increase of 5.6% over the previous year.
