Wu'an City, a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Hebei Province, is managed by Handan City. It is located in the south of Hebei Province, bordering Handan in the east, Changzhi in the west, Anyang in the south, and Xingtai in the north. It is about 200 kilometers away from Shijiazhuang, Taiyuan, and Zhengzhou, the three provincial capitals, 450 kilometers away from Beijing and 330 kilometers away from Tianjin. Since ancient times, Wu'an has been the transportation hub connecting the "Three Jin" in the west and the Taihang in the east, and also the link connecting Beijing and Tianjin in the north and the Central Plains in the south, with a total area of 1806 square kilometers. In the early Han Dynasty, Wu'an County was set up, belonging to Wei County. In the thirtieth year of the Republic of China (1941), it was changed to Wunan County. In the 31st year of the Republic of China (1942), Ciwu County was formed with parts of Wu'an County and Handan County. In the 33rd year of the Republic of China (1944), Wu'an was renamed Wudong County. As of October 2021, Wu'an has jurisdiction over 13 towns, 9 townships and 1 township level unit. The Municipal People's Government is located at No. 20, Taxi Road, Wu'an City.

Wu'an has formed a modern industrial structure of high-quality steel, fine coking, new energy, new materials, equipment manufacturing, cultural tourism, characteristic agriculture, trade logistics, etc. In 2020, the GDP of Wu'an City will be 66.78 billion yuan, an increase of 4.2% over the previous year. On November 13, 2020, Wu'an City was selected as one of the "Top 100 Counties (Cities) in China's Industry in 2020". On November 18, 2020, Wu'an City was included in the second batch of national tourism demonstration areas.
