Lianshui County, under the jurisdiction of Huai'an City, Jiangsu Province, is located in the north of Jiangsu Province and the northeast of Huai'an City. It is located in the east of the Huanghuai Plain and the lower reaches of the Huaihe River. It is located at the junction of Huai'an, Suqian, Lianyungang and Yancheng. It is 200 kilometers away from the provincial capital Nanjing, with a jurisdiction area of 1677.47 square kilometers. As of June 2020, Lianshui County has jurisdiction over 4 streets and 12 towns, and the county people's government is located in Liancheng Street. According to the data of the seventh national population census, as of 0:00 on November 1, 2020, the permanent population of Lianshui County was 829699, accounting for 18.21% of Huai'an City.
It is named after the Lianhe River. In the history of Lianshui, it was called "Anton", and later renamed "Lianshui" because of its new name. In the sixth year of Yuanshou (117 B.C.), Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty, Huaipu County was established as Linhuai County, which was the beginning of Lianshui County. After many structural changes, in the third year of the Jingding period of the Song Dynasty (1262), the military of Lianshui was transformed into Andong Prefecture. In the third year of the Republic of China (1914), it was renamed Lianshui County. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, it has successively belonged to Huaiyin Special Region and Huaiyin Region. In 1983, the system of city governing county was implemented, belonging to Huaiyin City. In 2001, Huaiyin City was renamed Huai'an City, under its jurisdiction.
Lianshui County has Lianshui Station set up by Huai'an Lianshui International Airport and Lianhuaiyang Town Railway. The tourist attractions include Wudao Lake Tourist Attraction, Jinshiyuan Tourist Attraction, Lianshui Baihua Garden, etc. There are local specialties such as Lianshui Tiehoof and Lianshui Chicken Cake.
