Kaihua County is located in the west of Zhejiang Province, the northwest of Quzhou, the source of Qianjiang River, and the junction of Zhejiang, Anhui and Jiangxi provinces. It is between 28°54 '30 "to 29°29' 59" north latitude and 118°01 '15 "to 118°37' 50" east longitude. It borders Chun 'an County of Hangzhou City in the east and northeast, Changshan County of this City in the east and south, Yushan County and Dexing City in Jiangxi Province in the southwest, Wuyuan County in Jiangxi Province in the west and northwest, Xiuning County in Anhui Province in the north, and is known as a "team barrier". The total area of the county is 2,236.61 square kilometers. According to the seventh census, as of midnight on November 1, 2020, Kaihua County had a permanent population of 258,810.
Kaihua County is the birthplace of Qiantang River. It is a national ecological county and a national ecological tourism demonstration area. Qianjiangyuan National Park is one of the ten national park construction pilot units in the county. The main scenic spots include the 5A-level national scenic spot Gengong Buddhist Culture Tourism Area, Qianjiangyuan National Forest Park, Gutianshan National Nature Reserve, Colorful Changhong, Huatanggu Scenic Spot, Jiuxi Longmen and beautiful villages such as Jinxing and Xiadu. On December 7, 2016, eleven ministries and commissions such as the National Development and Reform Commission issued a notice, agreeing to list Kaihua County as the third batch of national comprehensive pilot areas for new urbanization, requiring the pilot to start before the end of 2016, to achieve phased results in the pilot task by 2018, forming replicable and popularizing experience. By 2020, we will extend the successful experience of the pilot programs nationwide in an orderly manner.
In November 2018, Kaihua County was selected into the 2018 National "Happy 100 Counties List", and in December 2018, it was awarded the second batch of National demonstration cities and counties for ecological civilization construction. In March 2019, it was listed as the first batch of counties under the protection and utilization of revolutionary cultural relics.
In 2020, the annual GDP of Kaihua County was 15.05 billion yuan, calculated at comparable prices, an increase of 1.5% over the previous year (the following are all comparisons with the previous year).
