Ruichang is a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Jiujiang City. Ruichang is located in the north of Jiangxi Province, the west of Jiujiang City, and the south bank of the middle reaches of the Yangtze River. It is adjacent to Chaisang District in the east, De 'an County and Wuning County in the south, Yangxin County in the west, and Wuxue City in the north. The city area of 1423 square kilometers, under the jurisdiction of 21 townships (towns, fields, streets). By the end of 2021, Ruichang has 397,400 permanent residents.
