Penglai District/city, known as Dengzhou in ancient times, belongs to Yantai City of Shandong Province. It is located in the northeast of Shandong Province and the north of Yantai City. It is located at the north end of Jiaodong Peninsula and near the Yellow Sea and the Bohai Sea. It covers a land area of 1,197.1 square kilometers, a sea area of 506 square kilometers and a coastline of 64 kilometers. It has jurisdiction over 6 subdistricts, 8 towns and 6 townships. According to the seventh census, as of midnight on November 1, 2020, the permanent population of Penglai District was 434,575.

The budgetary revenue of public finance for the year was 3.402 billion yuan, up 3.1% year on year; Budgetary expenditure in public finance is 4.368 billion yuan, up 5.3%. The tax revenue reached 3.49 billion yuan, up by -3.0% year-on-year.
