Yakeshi City, a county-level city administered by Hulunbuir City of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, is located in the central part of Hulunbuir City and the western slope of the middle ridge of the Greater Khingan Mountains. It is 352 kilometers long from north to south and 147 kilometers wide from east to west, with a total area of 27,590 square kilometers. Is the Inner Mongolia Greater Khingan Mountains key State Forestry Administration bureau site resident, is the Inner Mongolia Greater Khingan Mountains political, economic, cultural, medical and transportation center; Binzhou Railway, Yalin Railway, Suiman Expressway and National Highway 301 converge in the city area. According to the seventh census data, the permanent population of Yakeshi was 256,396 as of midnight on November 1, 2020.

In December 2017, it was selected as the pilot county (district) of the National Intellectual Property Strong County Project. In December 2018, it was awarded the national climate symbol of "Snow and Ice Capital of China". In June 2020, it was selected into the list of national Forest health Bases (the first batch).

In 2020, according to the unified accounting results of regional gross domestic product, the city achieved a regional gross domestic product (GDP) of 10.17 billion yuan.
