Wangcheng District/county, belongs to Changsha City of Hunan Province, is located in the northeast of Hunan, Xiangjiang River on both sides. It is connected to Changsha County in the east, Kaifu District and Yuelu District in the south, Ningxiang City in the southwest, Yiyang City Heshan District in the northwest, Xiangyin County in the north across the water, and Miluo City in the northeast along the Beijing-Guangzhou Railway line. The total area is 969 square kilometers. By the end of 2018, Wangcheng District has jurisdiction over 11 subdistricts and 5 towns. According to the seventh census data, as of midnight on November 1, 2020, Wangcheng District's permanent population was 890,214.

In 2021, Wangcheng District achieved a GDP of 100.284 billion yuan (including Leifeng Subdistrict and Baima Subdistrict), an increase of 7.2% over the previous year.
