Youxian County is subordinate to Zhuzhou City of Hunan Province, located in the southeast of Hunan Province and at the west end of Wugong Mountain in the middle of the Luoxiao Mountain Range. It is adjacent to Pingxiang City and Lianhua County in Jiangxi Province in the east, and Lukou District and Hengdong County in Zhuzhou City in the west. In October 2017, it was named the National Garden County by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development.
