Linxiang, a county-level city of Hunan Province, is administered by Yueyang City. It is located at the northeast end of Hunan Province and connects with Hubei Province in the north. It is named for the place where Xiangshui meets the Yangtze River, and is known as "the Gateway of Xiangbei". According to the seventh census data, as of midnight on November 1, 2020, the permanent population of Linxiang was 433,200. In 2021, the GDP of Linxiang was 30.988 billion yuan, an increase of 7.8% over the previous year.

On March 6, 2019, it was listed in the list of counties under the protection and utilization of revolutionary cultural relics (the first batch). On February 2, 2019, it was named as the advanced unit of grassroots TCM work at the county level by the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
