Chenxi County, known as Chenyang and Chenxi in ancient times, belongs to Huaihua City of Hunan Province, located in the west of Hunan Province, north of Huaihua City, near Chenshui. The geographical coordinates are 109°54 '-110°32' east longitude and 27°53 '-28°13' north latitude. The east side is Xupu County, the south side is Zhongfang County, the west side is Mayang County and Luxi County, and the north side is Yuanling County. The total area of the county is 1976.81 square kilometers. Chenxi County has jurisdiction over 23 towns, 294 villages (communities). County government in Chen Yang Town. According to the seventh census, as of midnight on November 1, 2020, the permanent population of Chenxi County was 407,578.

Chenxi terrain is mainly mountainous and hilly, high in the southeast and low in the northwest, belonging to the subtropical monsoon humid climate. In April 2019, the Hunan Provincial People's Government approved the approval of 13 counties and urban areas, including Chenxi County, to lift their poverty targets. China's top 100 clean water counties and cities in 2020. On July 29, 2020, it was selected into the list of towns (counties) reconfirmed as National Health Care in 2019. In 2020, the annual GDP of Chenxi County reached 11.731 billion yuan, an increase of 3.4% over the previous year.
