Xilin County is affiliated to Baise City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China. It is located in the westernmost part of Guangxi, at the junction of Guangxi, Yunnan and Guizhou provinces. It is adjacent to Tianlin County in the east, Longlin Autonomous County in the north, Xingyi City in Qianxinan Buyi and Miao Autonomous Prefecture in Guizhou Province in the northwest, and Luping County and Shizong County in Yunnan Province in the west. It is adjacent to Qiubei County of Yunnan Province in the southwest, Guangnan County of Wenshan Prefecture in the south, and Funing County of Wenshan Prefecture in the southwest.

Xilin County area of 3020 square kilometers, accounting for Guangxi's total area of 1.28%, per capita has a land area of 37 mu, the total area of cultivated land 247,900 mu, per capita cultivated land area of 1.97 mu. The county has 4 towns, 4 townships (3 for ethnic townships), a total of 94 villages and 3 communities. According to the seventh census, as of midnight on November 1, 2020, the permanent population of Xilin County was 142,098.

In 2020, the GDP of Xilin County reached 3.435 billion yuan, an increase of 7.1% year on year, and 97.57% of the annual task reached 3.521 billion yuan. The ratio of three industrial structures is 44.50:13.15:42.35.

Xilin County is rich in tourism resources, with Wanfeng Lake, Tuoniang River, Palace Palace and other tourist attractions. It is not far from the famous scenic spots such as Bamei Xanadu in Guangnan County, Puzhehei in Qiubei County, Maling River in Xingyi City and Jilong Fort.
Xilin County is also known as the hometown of sugar orange, sugar orange sweet and delicious, exported to Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and other places. In addition, Xilin's hemp duck and ginger crystal are also famous local specialties.
In March 2019, it was selected into the list of the first batch of counties under protection and utilization of revolutionary cultural relics;
On April 24, 2019, the People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region approved the decision to lift Xilin County out of poverty.
