Panzhou, a county-level city in Guizhou Province, is administered by Liupanshui City. It is located in the west of Guizhou Province, southwest of Liupanshui City, adjacent to Pu 'an County in the east, Xingyi City in the south, Fuyuan County and Xuanwei City in Yunnan Province in the west, and Linshui City in the north, with a total area of 4057 square kilometers. As of October 2022, Panzhou has jurisdiction over 6 subdistricts, 14 towns and 7 townships. In 2021, Panzhou City has a registered population of 1,338,400.

Tang, set Xiping state. Qing, analysis state is Sanying Sanli Pu 'an County. In two years of the Republic of China (1913), the Panzhou Hall was changed to Pan County. In 2017, Panxian County was abolished and Panzhou City was established at the county level. On April 25, 2019, the People's Government of Guizhou Province approved the withdrawal of Panzhou from the poverty-stricken county list.

Panzhou City is a key coal-producing county in Guizhou Province and even the whole country, as well as an important power point of "electricity from Guizhou to Guangdong", known as the "Capital of coal power". In 2021, the GDP of Panzhou reached 63.939 billion yuan, an increase of 10.1%. The value added of the primary industry was 7.485 billion yuan, and that of the secondary industry was 33.507 billion yuan. The value added of the tertiary industry was 22.946 billion yuan, up by 6.9%.
