Duyun City, the capital of Qiandongnan Miao Autonomous Prefecture, is located in the south-eastern part of Guizhou Province. It is adjacent to Danzhai County of Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture in the east, Sandu Shui Autonomous County and Dushan County in the southeast, Pingtang County and Guilding County in the west, and Majjiang County of Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture in the north. The area is 64 kilometers wide from east to west and 63 kilometers long from north to south, with a total area of 2,285 square kilometers and 50,000 hectares of arable land. Originally known as "Duyun", Duyun got its name from the "Duyun Cave" in the east of the city. Since the Tang Dynasty, it has been set up several prefectures, prefectures, departments, Wei and counties. Ming Hongwu 23 years (1390) renamed Duyun. In 1956, Qiannan Buyi and Miao Autonomous Prefecture was established, and Duyun was determined as the prefecture capital. Duyun City is the political, economic and cultural center of southern Guizhou Province, an important transportation hub in southwest China, and one of the five major urban centers in central Guizhou Economic Zone. The Qian-Gui Railway, Gui-Xin Highway, Xiamen-Chengdu Expressway, National Highway 320, National Highway 321, Provincial Highway 207 and Gui-Guangzhou high-speed railway run north-south.
