Duyun City, the capital of Qiandongnan Miao Autonomous Prefecture, is located in the south-eastern part of Guizhou Province. It is adjacent to Danzhai County of Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture in the east, Sandu Shui Autonomous County and Dushan County in the southeast, Pingtang County and Guilding County in the west, and Majjiang County of Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture in the north. Originally known as "Duyun", Duyun got its name from the "Duyun Cave" in the east of the city.
